Hello,
I do hope you had a wonderful fourth of July Weekend, last week, if you are here in the States. Or a lovely week in general if you are elsewhere in the world. If you stopped by last week you will know that l made this crazy pair of flag shoes to wear to a fourth of July party.
So in the spirit of, if you are going to do something, why not over do it? I made this jewelry to go along with my other patriotic garb. l mean, why not? l already had the paint. Right?
The project started with two empty tape rolls left over from the a fore mentioned shoe project and some stickers from some old address labels.
l started by cutting out a section of the cardboard rolls to make them smaller.
Then I used some painters tape around the outside and the inside to secure the new sizing.
I painted the wider tube with white paint and the narrower one with the blue paint.
I thought about trying to paint red stripes on the white bracelet but I didn't think I could paint them very straight or crisply. And then inspiration struck.
I painted some of the painters tape red and then once it was dry I cut it to the width I needed and wrapped it around the bracelet.
I had these star stickers in my stash of crafting supplies and since the stars on my shoes were silver I decided to use the silver star on the bracelet as well.
I finished the bracelets with a coat of polycrlic to seal the paint, help hold the stickers and tape in place and to add some shine.
To make the flag earrings I used the flag stickers that came with some address labels. I cut six pieces of cardboard to match the stickers three for each earring.
I painted the edges of three pieces of cardboard red, white and blue.
And then used E6000 glue to sandwich the cardboard and stickers together.
To finish I punched a small hole in the top and used some jump rings to attach fish hook earrings. And there you have it practically free star spangled jewelry!
Happy Upcycling,
