It's 6:30 am on Saturday morning as I write this and there is peace and quiet, for the moment, in our little kingdom. If you follow this blog you may already know that at the end of last year we lost 3 of our four pets to a variety of health issues and if you are an animal lover you know the heart wrenching nature of this kind of loss.
Earlier this year we decided to add two new puppies to our household and then a few weeks ago we brought home two new cats.
Our older dog is great with the kitties. The puppies, on the other hand, are still a little too interested in this new species that isn't their own. Fortunately we have the space fore everyone to sleep and play and hide and with just a little coordinating we are able to keep the mayhem to a minimum.
This weekend we are dog sitting two extra dogs for my sister and I must admit that at 5:57 am, I was not too keen on getting up to feed 7 animals before I had gotten my first cup of coffee. But now that the task is behind me and all the furry creatures have full bellies, the pups are calmly laying about and I am quite happy to be up this early on what look to be a beautiful Saturday morning.
Today's project may be the simplest thing I have ever made, but sometimes those are the best projects really. A few years ago we needed new dog tags due to a phone number change but I saved the tags because I thought that they were cute and fun and because I save everything. :-)
I came across the tags the other day and for completely sentimental reasons decided to make these earrings. One for our beloved Mickie who we lost to bone cancer and one for her sister Roxie who is adapting, as are the hubby and I, to our new full house of four legged furry friends. Some days I still miss the easy peaceful interaction of our first little family but everyday my heart is more tangled, entwined and attached to the rhythm of our new household.
Happy Upcycling,
On another note entirely.
I wanted to say a big THANK YOU to the Tiny Box Company for including my blog in their favorite eco-friendly blogs list.
