Last week I made a confession about the sorry state of my wardrobe and some of the reasons for it's pitiful demise. This week I have another simple refashion and a few more thoughts on the sorry state of my closet.
Somehow in the last few years my perspective changed little by little. Tiny shifts that have effected how I see myself and the world around me. Somehow those things have left me with a much larger dose of apathy and disinterest than I used to have, I dearly want to shed the weight of them. I know that it will take many tiny steps back or forward toward where I want to go and who I want to be in my 50's. I have already shared that I want to give my wardrobe a drastic makeover so you will probably be seeing some more refashions here.
Another small, or maybe not so small, change that I have made, is an investment in myself and this blog. I registered for the Elite Blog Academy by Ruth Soukup at Living Well Spending Less. I am hoping to update and improve this blog over the next several months so things could get a little messy.
For my latest project I made a new skirt that I hope will be part of an entire outfit in the next few weeks.
I started with a knit mini skirt.
And this chiffon dress.
I cut the skirt off of the dress at the length I wanted and then cut the sides open so I had two pieces.
I was able to use the existing hem but I hand stitched the side edges to finish them and then attached the pieces to the knit skirt.
Happy Upcycling,
