This isn't a thing that I normally bother to write about but I work part time as a waitress. Most of the time it is a perfectly fine way to make a living. Believe it or not I have made a little money here and there from my crafting and this blog but so far I still need to make a living elsewhere. But getting back to my glamorous day job, I go through an awful lot of white oxford shirts. Not that they wear out but they do get grimy. Not even bleach and hot water can get those sleeves white again.
So I figure there is nothing to lose. Right?
Now I am not suggesting that you go out and buy a gallon of paint, but I do like to use what I have on hand so let the experiment begin.
I mixed some water and paint in the sink and dunked the wet shirt in and then hung it up to dry. Then I washed and dried it again. Some of the black stains still showed so I hand painted a little more paint directly on the cuffs. They are a little bit stiffer now.
It's not perfect and certainly doesn't look brand new but it is a lot better. What can I say it was a bit of an uninspired week. Hopefully I will have a more creative project next week :-)
Happy Upcycling,
