Hi All,
I do hope you are having a lovely holiday season.
I usually feel an extra bit of creativity this time of year. Holiday decorating (at least in my house) seems to lend itself to lots of upcycling ideas. Last year I made all of my Christmas Tree Decorations from wine corks, plastic bags and foil chip bags. I also made some Nesting Dolls from tin cans. In years past I have made a mini Christmas tree and a Snowman from old books and some big Abstract Snowflakes from old CD's.
This year I am adding to my Trashy Christmas Decorations with this TP tube Christmas Holiday Wreath.
I have been wanting to make one of my own since I started seeing them all over Pintrest.
The process seemed pretty simple.
Start with lots of flatted tubes.
Mark tubes to desired width. (I used 1/2 inch)
Cut and assemble in desired pattern.
Use hot glue to attach pieces.
I used a medium sized bowl to shape the wreath.
But I didn't think about the stability of this design.
Since I didn't want my wreath to look like a tear drop, I decided try a wire hanger for support.
It took a little bending and shaping and reshaping with some pliers but eventually I got it into a circle shape.
I used the hot glue to attach the wire to the back of the wreath. You can see that the hanger wire was not quite long enough to go all the way around the wreath but....
it still was able to stabilize the shape.
I wanted a little fuller shape.
So I added some more tube pieces around the whole wreath.
I thought about painting it a more traditional green color but on the advise of the hubby I went with silver spray paint.
I wasn't sure exactly how to decorate my wreath but I had some gold foil from an empty coffee bag and more tp tubes so...
I made some cardboard roses and some gold foil balls and a bow.
And then it was ready to hang on the door.
Happy Upcycling,
