Hello Friends,
I am not sure if this counts as an actual upcycled project because it was so easy and I did it on a whim. But here goes anyway. It all started with breakfast and the fact that I am apparently a very messy chef. And when I say chef I mean cook and when I say cook I mean expert frozen pizza preparer which means I know how to turn the oven on and therefore really had no business trying to prepare fried eggs for breakfast. Day old cold pizza is my breakfast specialty and my wardrobe would probably appreciate better adherence to my skill level. At any rate in the middle of the egg preparation I splattered myself with oil.
Now I don't know about you but I have never had much luck with getting out oil stains.
I thought "what the heck I have plenty of oil and a paint brush and these shorts that I can't wear anymore."
Step 1 to fix oil stain. Add more oil. :-)
It took a lot of oil. Thankfully I was working on shorts and not pants. But it also brushed on pretty fast and as it sits it seeps into the garment so you don't have to cover every last spot. I did this front panel first to see what it would look like and then I went back and "painted" the rest of the shorts.
Step 2 to fix oil stain. Rinse in soapy water.
They are a little darker now than before but I think that I might like them better.
To be completely honest they do still smell a little bit like olive oil and I think the first few times I wash them I won't expose them to any other clothing just in case more oil washes out.
Happy Upcycling,
